how would you put both of them on  just saw a horse on the world equestrian games being ridden in a hackamore and a snaffle at the same time  that is some gear surely (?)

i saw that too--looked like one heck of a contraption

i can only think that horse didna like anything stronger than a snaffle in his mouth --but that control not precise enough when using a snaffle --mebbe rider went through a trial and error situation before having the idea that a bit of pressure on the nose would solve prob

he looked like he wasn't using hackamore very strongly and the horse seemed to be happy enough--but it did look very weird

I jump my pony in a hackamore due to speed issues but as with most bitless bridles the steering is pretty pants, especialy when trying to fly round and high speed. The snaffle was probably to help with the steering rather than brakes.

I don't know what bitless bridles you have been using but my steering is fine:)

I have seen people ride in a hackamore and snaffle before, I would think a separate slip head would be used for the hackamore.
A lot of gear tho.

There was a member on here years ago who posted a picture of herself competing at a SJ competition. I asked why she used both a hackamore and a snaffle and she said her horse preferred the nose/curb pressure for brakes but she needed the snaffle to help steer. :)

i had wondered (in passing) about trying that sort of thing on my mare (to practise with double reins and because i am quite happy riding on the buckle) but i would need a sliphead for that (which i don't have) and i thought it would get caught up on each other... i wouldn't try it beacuse it is a lot of gear but it did seem to work well and the rider was very allowing.
