Hi
Wondering if you can help me I want to improve my horses way of going and to get him working from behind but I need some help with it and its not something you can go to a riding school and learn is it?!
I have been looking on the internet for someone to come and work with me but the only person I have found is Claires Equestrian which sounds perfect but is too far from me.
Would you say an instructor can help?? or do i need a trainer?? (I don't just want lessons I want someone to work on the ground with me etc)
Not sure what to look for on the internet
Or even better can anyone recommend someone in Herts/Essex Borders??
Nazeing - Harlow area of Essex
Thanks for any advice and replies :D

If you were in scotland i could recomend an excellent instructor :p but yes, i think some lessons with a good instructor would do wonders. I started lessons with my instructor about 18 months ago and she's got my horse (and i!) working so much better. We ended up going back to basics, improving his paces and everything kinda progressed from there. He's now proving a wee star, shame he just don't travel that well  my RI trained at the Scottish Classical Dressage Centre and also trains with the 'training teachers of tomorrow' (not that i know what either of those means!). But her methods are very similar to that i saw at the recent heather moffat demo. I know heather has trainers around the country so might be worth seeing if there is one near you?

eventerbabe - I'm also based in Scotland an am alway keen to try different instructors - who is it you go to?
atillathefun - I think this is definately something that can be achieved with an RI - my RI also teaches classical dressage and focus on improving the impulsion and engaging the hind legs - a good RI could definatley help you!

a good instructor should certainly help & many will also be willing to ride if necessary
i would look on the bhs register of instructors personally , there should be plenty in your area & many don't advertise elsewhere

here's her website :)
www.pammillardressage.com she's based in the NE but will travel if you got enough people willing to ride. She's been over to skye to teach a friend of mine from another forum.

Eventerbabe - pam's website doesn't look to be working, pity, I'd be interested to have a look. I presume she trained with Roger and Eleanor at the Grove? We count ourselves very lucky as they are now close to us, and Eleanor is my daughter and horse's trainer.

Any decent freelance instructor should be able to get both you and your horse going better :)
