I took Billy to the vet yesterday because I could not get rid of his thrush. She said maybe he has canker. After a careful examination she discovered tiny white growths in three of his feet next to the frogs, which she said were canker in the very early stage.
She gave him an anti-biotic shot, froze the canker with liquid nitrogen and packed it with medication and water proof hoof bandages.
I am supposed to give him flagyl antibiotic and bute twice a day, re-treat and re-bandage the feet daily, and keep him in a clean dry stall. (He is usually in a big grassy pasture 24/7.)
I read what I could find on the internet, and there seems to be a variety of treatments.
Have any of you treated canker?
