Finally Bobby's first drive photos!

At last, here they are.

First you need to start these junior whips young of course...Beth is 21 months and can already catch her pony, put a headcollar on if I do the buckle, hand me the harness in the right order and tries to do the buckles! :D

And as you can see Bobby was deeply traumtised by his introduction to driving...by the michelin man - I didn't realise how huge that coat was until I saw the pics :D

eta - this was not his true first drive, it was his first road drive, we had done a little in the paddock for a couple of days beforehand and all the usual prelimaries before that, but the reaction was the same for all of them...but then he has been being 'broken to drive' for easily 4 years just things have kept happening to stop us doing the final stage so we earmarked a free week and got it finished before anything else could happen!

Goodness, isnt she doing well! I need to start getting less protective of my daughter - I am fine when she is riding (as long as she isn't directing daddy to lead her over jumps :eek:), but I am always sure that she is going to get stood on:eek:o.

Beth is so bossy with him and he just adores her - he'll come down the field to find her specially. She loves all the Shetlands and is always milling about the field with them - they are utterly bombproof with her and allow her to do just about anything. I think it helps that I have had them for years and years and know and trust them so well.

i have never thought of using a lead rope :cool:
when first going out on the roads to be honest have always gone for it with a groom of course after months of long lining
