Hi, I'm new here and have a question about bits. Our 10yr.old daughter is taking lessons.(western) Her instructor used a different bit on the horse and it wouldn't do any turns for her. The horse fought her the whole time. Could it be because of the different bit?

If nothing else has changed then I would definitely say it could be the bit. Have you spoken to the instructor about the problem? Best way to find out would be to swap back to the original bit and see how her horse goes then. Good luck!

I think it is the bit. I researched the type and didn't find too many sites that like this style of bit. I will have to ask the instructor to switch it back.

I don't want to sound rude, but quite honestly it should be your decision, or your daughter's which bit to use - not the instructor. After all, it is your horse!

I would say the bit is the problem if none before...
people do like to try fix what is not broken!
