My YO and I were wondering if Loki perhaps has some cremello blood in him somewhere.
He is a dappled grey but has blue eyes and he feels the cold very easily which my YO has said is quite common in cremellos. So does anyone know if he would have cremello blood in him somewhere.

Unfortunately as far as I know he is not registered though we are sure he must of been somewhere along the line....

Here are some pics of him, also the white bits on him are more cream than white

It's a myth that cremellos feel the cold. Cremello is just a chestnut with two cream genes; if Loki was cremello he'd have no dark pigment in his coat at all. Blue eyes occur in many horses with no cream gene - it's usually a result of a white pattern gene like splash white.

You can't really have 'cremello blood in him' - cremello is a colour gene, nothing else. A horse is either cremello or not - and Loki is not.

What I noticed about your rather nice chap is that he has sabino markers i.e. ragged tops to his socks and also either a broad blaze or a white face which could account for his blue eyes. Of course your pone has greyed now, but he would have had some very 'loud' markings had he stayed his original base colour.

My guy doesn't suffer from hot/cold more than any other horse, but he will sunburn on his blaze/snip spots.

Does your mare have that issue?

Loki is a cute guy! I agree, not cremello (it is the combination of two creme genes).
