Hi All,

Finally have a saddle on the way for my fjord:D!

Now I have a dilemma which saddle pad do I use? I know the Haf pad is recommended but its very expensive  I would like something that will aid the grip of the saddle and maybe something which i could put inserts into if I find its needed.

Would be grateful for advice off anyone who uses this saddle currently. Or maybe someone as a used Haf for sale :o
Thanks

I use a HAF pad with my SB. If I ever were to change I think I would probably get one of the Horsedream pads instead. I have the HAF Aerogel. What I hate is that it is too big to fit in my washing machine. :(

There's a reason the Haf is recommended - because it works. The pad is an integral part of making a treeless saddle work for you - if you skimp on the pad, you can end up with problems. Also if you are buying your Freeform new and use a pad other than that recommended, your warranty will be null and void.

Hi Showjumper, I am glad you replied - I have been looking at your website its very informative for prospective treeless riders:).
I did not get a new one it was out of my price range for now! Can you recommend which Haf would be most suitable for my fjord. I was thinking of the sympanova in case inserts were needed (although I think this is unlikely due to no wither/flat back) or could the basic one do?

Was also hoping someone may have used one for sale - there was one on ebay today and i missed it

Thanks

I have a Haf Airnet pad which is fabulous - it doesn't budge, however I have sewn shelf liner onto the top as the saddle slipped forward on the pad when Dolly bucked. The shelf liner has totally eliminated any movement. The sympanova pad is excellent quality however one person I know of ended up with rub marks on her clipped horse. If he hadn't have been clipped, I think she would have been absolutely fine :)

You may find that shims will be necessary, even on a very wide horse (Dolly is pretty wide and has two full shims in her pad to get the wither clearance that I like).
