Thrush that will NOT leave my poor pony's feet alone!
I'm sick of battling with it every winter. What is the best course of action, bearing in mind I dont have time to scrub out every night, could manage 3 times a week at a push, pushed for time you see, GCSE year n all :o
I've tried iodine, didnt really work. Got a product called frog health, was real good during summer but not sure if it will cope the winter. Got a diff product called farriers friend or something  no good at all! Smells like vinegar and is all a bit vile.
Help :o Please :)

3% Hydrogen peroixide, use it neat every other day and purple spray (good quality aerosol one) on the other days.
That should shift it.

I used borax then iodine spray. The gold label didnt work tbh so i got the one we have in the shop from battles, farrier got me that make first and it worked a treat.

Hydrogen peroxide shifted Curlys.
Diluted to three parts water, syringed into the cracks in on old empty wormer tube and scrubbed with a dandy brush every other day for 10 days and then picked out, quickly brushed with water to get the mud off and purple sprayed (arerosol) on the other days and every day for a week after.
Touch wood its not come back.

Cover frog in MSM cream, cram it down the sides and into the middle and anywhere else thrush can lurk. Its not friendly to thrush bugs, doesn't produce anything for them to feed on and it sticky enough to stay in place so you can get away with only doing it every 2-3 days. If its been going on for a while then the treatments may be damaging some healthy tissue as well giving the next lot of bugs something to feed on. Scrubbing with borax and then MSM creaming would be a good but I've shifted thrush with just the MSM before.
If still not shifting then look at diet, try to eliminate as much sugary stuff as possible,

I've used Hydrogen Peroxide and it works wonders :)

I thought that hydrogen peroxide wasn't recommended because it's necrotising (or have I got that wrong?).
I'd do a borax soak and then (as Melanie said) cover in MSM or sudocrem or maybe a blast with cleantrax would help.
I also agree to have a good look at the diet if the thrush isn't shifting.

i forgot about the msm. I also tried that one day after cleaning with borax, and worked just as well as iodine, maybe better actually as it blocks up the thrushy parts and keeps it cleaner :)

I hibbiscrub but don't rinse it off then spray iodine on then when feet are dry put stockholm tar on (has antiseptic properties) i would get the spray as the tub is sooo messy and impracticle.

cattle foot rot spray from your vets. very effective, just don't spray it on your hands coz it's blue and a bugger to get off

Hydrogen Peroxide, Iodine and stockholm tar are Necrotising and would only work short term.Using them constantly would harm the good tissue and it will always come back every day.
I have a mare BF who suffers very badly with thrush the smell is a knock out and her feet Were black with seedy toe developing. I used Cleantrax first to kill off everything and as a last resort after trying loads of things I used Copper sulfate and noof from Trinity http://www.justbespoke.com/ This has worked for her. I scrub feet leave to dry then put it on with a paint brush Twice a week but now only once to keep thrush away. Trinity have also helped with her diet which is the cause of hoof problems.
You can try Milton scrubs 300ml added to 600ml of water or you can soak the hoof for 30 mins make sure you clean the feet first with water as the mud will weaken the affect. If you soak them you can only do this twice per week but you can scrub daily. This works for my other 2 if they get thrush.
A friend asked me to help with her BF horse who had Sheered heels we clean traxed them then did milton scrubs and put MSM cream in the cracks daily she has improved 100% I will need to find out if you can clean trax a foot if it is shod as my 3 are BF. Also Tea tree with cooking oil might help. I used this when my mare was shod.
Hope this helps :)
