Hello! I'm new!
I've got an 8 yr old 14hh cob who has no withers, is extremley wide are is rather round! I had to have a saddle made to measure last year as no other saddles would fit her, howcer when the 'master saddler' came to fit her new saddle it kept slipping to one side. He told me to buy a Cliff Barnsby anti slip numnah which I did but it hasn't really solved the problem.
Its fine if I'm just walking her but as soon as she goes into trot it slips, this is now causing her a problem with one of her shoulders. Because she is short in the back as well, the saddle is restricting her shoulder movement making her paces really choppy.
Do any of you think that if I went treeless it may solve my problem? What are the best makes? I was looking at the 'barefoot' range.
Do you need to buy special pads, stirrups etc?
Thanks for any advice!

Hi,

Saddles always slipped a little to the side on one of my horses. I use (and now sell) Heather Moffett's Fhoenix Saddles. The Suberpanel one is designed for flat horses and it is the only saddle I have ridden in that has not slipped on mine. Heather says it is great on wide backed horses where saddles slipped.

Good luck :)
