Just wondering if many people use Safe and Sound which is supposed to be for laminitics.

I have been feeding it to mine but he has not had laminitis or anything. I just use it more as a precasion.

Not many people seem to say anything about it on hear but quite a few horses seem to get lami.
Just wondering if theres anything I should know about it, ie a reason for not feeding it. Mine is a good doer so doesn't need a lot of feed.

I used to feed it to Kia as I mistakenly thought that he would be like my last cobby and be a good doer. unfortunately he isnt so he never put on enough weight in comparison to the amount I was feeding him when doing comps etc.

That is the only reason I took him off it. unfortunatley his feet arnt so good now and I have to add a supplement to do wehat the safe and sound was doing anyway but he has put more wiehgt oin and can handle the amoutn of work he is in now so that is the plus side.

My last cob was on it for the whole time I had him and he loved it. I really saw a difference in Kias feet when he was on it too!!!

I really like it. All of mine are on it and really like it. Great for fooling fatties that they are having a proper bucket :) Even the TB type one has been having it over the summer. I've got one that had a mild bout of laminitis last year, one that gets LGL very rarely and one that has signs of having had a mild bout of laminits before I got her.

The only bad thing is you have to feed stupid amounts for it to be a complete feed so best to add a vitamin supplement.

I used to feed Falcon on it. Rather too much chaff for my liking. Cool mix is my preference now but I couldn't get it the last time I bought him some food. So reverted to Ride and Relax.

I have tried it before, but have changed on to Slim and Heathy for my little fattie and he seems to like it. Just re-read that of course he likes it he likes all food! He has it with some alfa a lite, Lady in the feed merchants told me to try it?

I fed Rhi's last pony on it. He has had laminitis in the past, so jumped at the chanve of feeding it when it first came out. He was fine on it. It really slowed down his eating as well compared to chaff & mix.

Am thinking of putting Etta on when i've run out of my current mix, as i don't know yet what she'll be like thru winter.
