I believe that everybody has something they are good at. Different people have different talents. It is hard to say what yours is without knowing you. What are the things you think you have talent for?
AND: I would like to remind the other posters that this is the riding for the disabled section. Everybody has talents and everybody has weaker areas. It is not kind to make fun of somebody who cannot always express themselves well. :(

My thoughts exactly.
Here here i agree. Everyone does have talent however big or small and if you have a dream then go out and get it, don't let anyone or anything hold you back

Once i went to a sports evening at school and a teacher said to us: Dont wait for your ship to come, swim out to it that comment will always keep me determined!

I'm still a little confused :o Could I possibly, and feel free to shoot me down if you want, ask what your disability is? That might give us all an insight into how to respond to your threads here :)

I think Maz has cerebral palsy (correct me if I'm wrong Maz).
If you search for all her posts I think you will get a better idea of where she's coming from and what she's trying to say :)
Although I have to say Maz, that this thread of yours isn't the clearest in terms of what you're asking!
I'm think you are asking whether we think you have a talent for riding? To be honest, I am sure you must have, since riding is not the easiest of sports to do well if you are fit and able . So, anyone who rides when they suffer from a disability has talent :).
What does your RI say? She is the best person to ask. After all, she has actually seen you ride ;).

Yeah your right I do have that disability and it is for riding and i have spoken to my RI about it and she says i'm doing really well...well i have 2 RI's one let me jump ground poles and the other RI lets me go out on trail rides and i'm going on wednesday because its half term:D:D

Maz, if you enjoy what you are doing, and are happy, who are we to judge you?
You do not have to prove yourself to anyone, you are hacking out and riding over poles, no mean feat.
Do what you do, enjoy it and have fun.

:D Yeah your right no-one really has to judge me on this topic
really n i love what i'm doing right now so why should i have to prove it to other people
I guess i just thought i needed a bit of regignition on this subject
Xxx Maz=)
Thanks Wally

I think the love of riding and the love of horses are the most important things. It sounds as if you have both of these things, so good for you.

Maz, my ambitions towards the grand national are non existent! I might ride around the course and scramble over the fences with an Icelandic as they woulnd't jump they'd climb and scramble! As for pointing a fully fit 100% keen 16-17hh TB at those fences, letting him go....and sitting on his back while he did it! NOPE! You are welcome to that one! :D :D
I was, in my youth a reasonable rider, I could stick on most things and never get scared. I did 100 mile endurance rides in a day, and lots of 25 and 50 mile ones. Great sport, great way of seeing the country and you don't have to be a fantastic rider, just care about the horse under you.
I now do more carriage driving than riding, I enjoy it, it's fun and the ponies love it.
We had a bit of a seminar at our indoor school on Sunday, Esther.D's Mum gave us a talk on Physiotherapy and posture and how it affects the horse and vice versa (she was an RDA physio) There were some really very good riders there, all young kids, with some very flashy horses, all kitted out, all clipped and rugged and shiny......then there was me, in my jeans, with my unclipped, living out, 5 gaited horses that couldn't even trot. Scruffy, hairry and grubby! :D :D
I don't care any longer whether folk judge me, that is their affair, I do what I do, My horses are happy, I am happy and that's all that matters.
Later I was bullied into riding one of the posh nags, on my 3rd circuit in canter he did a bit of a buck and I lost my stirrups and nearly fell off!.........didn't matter, just enjoy it and let others critisize if they will smille and nod and just enjoy yourself!

Now that would be my idea of a nightmare!! However I'd love to take my ex-racer round a racetrack (no jumps involved) and just let him go. I wouldn't have to worry about stopping him, all I'd do is sit there and enjoy the ride until he got tired! Alas I doubt very much whether I actually will be able to, as he is now a 19yr old ex-racehorse and rather arthriticy - so not sure he'd actually make it round one lap :o

Oooh No, not the Grand National ~ far too frightening!
I'm still dreaming of the day I can ride a decent dressage test, without looking like a bag of spuds on top of an horse that isn't playing up!
Maz, everyone is good at something. Whatever it is you want to achieve, go for it !! :D

Not the Grand National, no. :) My dream is to get placed in an able bodied dressage test. That might remain a dream, though - my pony does not think much of dressage and I would not be willing to give her up for a dressage horse.

I dreamed of being National Velvet .... :p
Sadly reality hit as I hit my 40's and realised how HUGE those fences really are!
Go for it Maz - reach for the stars and don't let anyone stop your dreams :)

I am so glad you posted that comment. I really love the idea of that.
I want to get a picture of my dreamboat and put that comment with it and post it on the door of my fridge. May I put your name "maz:)" with it, please? To remind me about getting on with my life.
