Hay and haylage

I have decided to feed Mackie Haylage during the winter and haven't been able to find any good hay a ta reasonable price. I still have 6 bales of good hay left - is it OK to feed him both or should I stick to one or the other?

Mixing it will be ok, gradually put more haylage in until its all haylage, then it shouldnt cause any upset when all the hay is gone... does that make sense? lol

Horses tend to prefer good haylage if given a choice - bear in mind the feed value is higher. Also once the haylage has been opened it has to be used quickly, otherwise it will warm. If I was you I would store the hay for emergencies (snow). The hay would need to be used by the end of the winter as the feed value drops.
