Tips Plz!!!

Can someone plz give me some tips on how to start riding without anyone holding the leading rope plz give me some tip[s i am starting on a 9 year old arabian horse and i really need help!!!

what I did when helping people to ride and getting them off the lead was, that I first started with a short lead holding the horse tighter and eventually gave a looser and looser lead until the person was in control and I was only there if they got stuck. i then let them go but still walked beside them as a just in case. i was still able to grab on. then I walked further and further away until the person was on their own completely.

when i first take my kids off a lead, i than do a couple lounge lessons with them. They can develope more of a seat, and balance. i also have them steer around the circle themselves a little bit. than i let them walk on the rail with me walking a couple feet away (there if they need help) than i go to the middle and let them walk around by themselves. when they first trot i do it on a lounge...same for canter. once they get the hang of it its back onto the railing so they steer themselves and give aids theirselves

I agree with everyone first you must get your balence before your ready to be taken often the lead! Do u feel that you want to come off the lead? Or does your riding instructor want you to stay on longer but you want to come off? Or do you want to stay longer becaues of fears, but she is suggesting you come off?
