hi all,

as you may or may not know, i am currently looking for a stallion for my hannoverian x tb mare.

i have emailed and tried calling all the studs i can in my area for hannoverians stallions but none get back to me

i have recently got in touch with an old friend and it turns out she now has a competiiton yard of her own and has a stallion. she is very much into her dutch horses and he himself is registered dutch. He is a gorgeous piebald 4yr old stallion and has been graded and came 1st in his grading. He is 16.2hh. She has shown him in-hand where he has been champion coloured and also shows him under saddle. he has an amazing loose jump and his temprement is very calm and relaxed.
he sounds amazing and as its an old friend of mine she will do me a good deal if i take my mare to her.

What do you think? I can see the foal having good potential to event or show. Do you think it would be a good choice or do you think i should pursue the Hannoverian route?

thanks

i think hes beautiful not too leggy, nice and solid looking without being to heavy. lovely markings. you say his temperments good and he has ability.
if the foals for yourself i think you know in your heart what you would like, although no guarantees with breeding.

I think he is lovely!!!

If he was skewbald I would say that he looks very like Nooksters Voltan.

Lovely looking stally!!!

hi, thanks for your comments. as ive said, he belongs to a good friend of mine so she tells me all about him, he is an absolute stunner.
the foal would actually be to sell on but already have a buyer! friend of the family wants a dressage/all-rounder.

so do you think that crossing a dutch with a hannoverian X is ok?

Is that a Belgian draft cross?

Dont know if you are willing to travel, but there is Rockhill Stud in Argyll, Scotland. They have 2 absolute cracking Hanoverians.

I've just bought a foal that is sired by TC II at Rockhill and she is lovely (not that I'm biased!)

thanks lovejoy, have actually thought about that one but it really is a bit of a journey for us. Plus our nasty accident in a trailer, hence why she is now a broodmare, so i think she might get too stresed going all that way.
