As in vegetable oil or sunflower oil that you put in human food?

Yes, but if feeding a lot then you need to add vitamin E and selenium as well.

Thanks, how much would you consider a lot? Would about a table spoon a day be considered a lot?

One or two tablespoons a day should be fine. However, I would recommend sunflower oil over vegetable oil and I did have a valid reason... which has just completely escaped my mind :/ I'll post when I remember :D

Think its a mugfull or more that needs vitamin E and selenium, should be fine with a tablespoon.

With Cooper's dodgey sugar problem I have been ordered by the vet to give him 4 tablespoons of oil a day to start off with.
That is 60mls - if you go to somewhere that sells kitchen stuff you can get little measuring spoons/pots that you can use.
I use soya oil or sunflower oil as they have lots of vits in them.
Vegetable oil tends to be 'artificial' in this country so is bad fat rather than good fat that you get in sunflower oil.
Coops also has Selenevite E as his supplement to accompany this.

Does anyone know if sunflower oil makes horses fizzy?

Really? I thought vegetable oil was generally rapeseed oil?

Rapeseed oil is different. its the best oil to buy for humans cos it has the lowest fat content

Just investigated in my kitchen - tesco blue bottle of "vegetable oil" - says on the back rapeseed oil, pictures of rape plants on the front. So definitely some vegetable oil is rapeseed, if not all. :)

I had my horse on sunflower oil, and our vet suggested changing to Corn Oil, with a Vit E supplement with selenium, ( supposed to be a good liver tonic),as she has been on Danilon for over a year, we thought it would be good to give her liver a break for a couple of weeks, and use the supplement as a tonic.
