I was extatic that I managed to qualify and am now nervously waiting for Saturday. It seems though that I might have a bit of trouble as I managed to break my toe yesterday by banging it on the end of the bed :rolleyes:so it might be a total nightmare if I cant ride all week but I am looking forward to it anyway.
We are doing prelim 17 which is the unrestricted class (unfortuntaly will have to compete against BD riders).
Is anyone esle going??

Not going but wish you luck. Remember the affiliated riders are often people you compete against already, and have all the same stage fright pressures as you do. You qualified, so just go out there, remember to breathe, and learn your test well. I find it useful to know where a movement starts and ends, that way if there's a hiccough I can think ok I muffed that movement but the next movement starts at lets say K, so rebalance and make sure I ride well prepared for the next 10 marks.

Yep I am in the open Prelim and the open Novice. We are traveling down on Friday night and camping in the lorry.

I am one of those BD riders nothing changed from when I was competing at Oldencraig last year to this appart from I have paid out £110. This does not mean that either me or my horse ave suddenly improved our training.:D

The picture in my avatar was last years finals where I came 5th in the restricted Prelim.

It does not mean a thing me being in the Novice trust me, if my boy decides he cant be bothered that day or he gets a bit over excited all you will see is airs above the ground.

love the pix! right I will look out for you! Are you getting your tests video'd?

You must have been placed in the novice to have qualified though which is FAB so dont take it away from yourself.
I'm doing my first Novice test in December but not at OC only locally

Thanks Grace-T.:D

I am not sure about the video. I had the Pet Plan Area festivals videos but I have still not seen them yet. I think they are being hidden from me incase I decide never to sit on my little bronco again.

I have been placed in many a Novice and I qualified for both classes in only 2 outings but if the boy decides he does not want to play I can easily be at the bottom of the class.

Whats your real name so I can say 'Hi xxx' rather than Hi Blackhorse :D

Iv asked them to video it for me and hubby will be armed with the camera!

We qualified in two outings as well & have only been doing prelims since May so I am very pleased so far. Mine is the same, perfect one day but we have an ongoing lead issue in Canter so if he decides to go wrong lead it will all be over

LOL my name is Amy on Gaetano du Paon. I will be there with my friends Chelle (MeMe) and Gina. Chelle will be on a grey called A class above and Gina on a spotty pony called Mr Darcy. We will be there from Friday night staying in a large old blue ford cargo. Pop in for a coffee. I assume you are Grace:confused:

Well done for qualifying in such a short space of time. We have been playing this game for 7 years and last year was the first time I qualified for anything like this.

Chelle is in the Novice and Gina the Prelim and Elementary.

When do we phone for times? I cant find it on the schedule.

We have to call today between 7-9 on the usual number(shall I PM you?) I think its on the schedule on the page that has got the list of all the show dates on it. Well thats what I hope, presume its the same as when we call for times usually?

I havnet been able to ride all week as I broke my toe on sunday:rolleyes: so my instructor is riding him for me tonight and Friday so I am VERY underprepared!
Still just pleased to have qualified. iv never qualified for anything this posh b4!

Hi Grace,

The number is on the website (I think) just no details of when to phone. Please PM it too me just in case.

There is nothing like preparation, I am a master of it this year. I did the Chiltern and Thames finals at Towerlands with a sprained ankle and had not rode the week before. I have also done an affiliated pet plan area festival having not ridden for a week before due to working till 10pm every night.

Thanks and Yep. I had not last year and did not realise you could not have a caller, manic test learning. This year I am prepared.

Are you aware that no whips are allowed, I do not use one but this rule has caught alot of people out.

Spurs are allowed. It is run under BD championship rules. The rules were on the entry form I think.

Hi
I have checked on the BD website and you are allowed whips -unless they class it as a Winter Regional which it isnt?

47. WHIPS
It is permitted to carry a whip in all National Classes except Area
Festival, Summer and Winter Regional Championships, Championship
classes or at the request of the Selectors. A whip may not be carried
by a competitor riding any FEI Pony, Junior or Young Rider test.
Whips are permitted in all 4 year old classes. A whip may always be
carried by ladies riding side saddle, but at no time may more than one
whip be carried during a test or warming up.
A whip must not be used in a way or be of a length that disturbs other
riders and may not be picked up if dropped during a test.
When saluting, Competitors must take the reins and whip, if carried, in
one hand. The free hand should be lowered to the rider’s side and the
rider should nod the head. (see rule 79)
Excessive use of the whip at any time while at an Affiliated competition
is forbidden, and it should never be used or carried in a manner which
affects other horses.

Hi Grace, no whips are allowed as its a champs class, says on the rules of the schedules to.

See you on Sat, and dont worry about the affiliated riders, Im in the Novice on a horse, thats been out once in the past 3 months after its injury and thinks he can go everywhere at 90mph!

The rule actualy states you can carry a whip in all classes EXCEPT in

Area Festivals
Summer and Winter Regional Championships
Championship Classes (this is the one that applies to Oldencraig)
Or at the request of selectors.

You can try asking on Saturday but I am sure there were no whips allowed last year.

Lets hope its not raining....I'm at 9.23 so at least I wont have all day to stress about it!
