Has anyone heard of the Spanish Riding School,
RE:Mavie's nerves

Is it just a name or a real school or technique?

Hi Will,

The Spanish Riding School is probably the most famous equestrian institution in the world! It is the home of the Lippizaners, the 'White Horses' as featured in the Disney film 'The Flight of the White Stallions' (at least I think that's what it was called- I saw it enough times as a kid!

I am sure that the SRS must have a website. The school is based in Vienna, in the most beautiful Baroque riding school with great chandeliers and ornate plasterwork. They give performances for the public in all of the Classical High School work.

The horses have a long pedigree of breeding for this type of work- I own one of the breed myself.

There are videos out that you can buy of the performances, and also a lot of background history.

Hope this helps, but look up the possibility of a website- I'm going to now too!

Heather

Hello. There are loads of sites for this amazing school, but the most informative (in my humble opinion!) is: http://www.srs.at/english/Info3e.htm
Hope this is of use.

P.S The actual homepage is:http://www.srs.at/english/welcomee.html
- the above goes straight to the information pages..

Will,

There is also a Spanish riding school in Jerez (Spain) and they do shows all over Spain and I think the world, is an elite school and only the best horses and rides can go. Is not actually a school.

I have seen them perform and they are spectacular!

I don't know where you live but they usually give a display in London every other year which is both awesome and humbling (as an everyday rider) to watch.

Best wishes

Sally
