I have had a trailer for years and would quite happily have got rid of it at any time. I hated it with a vengeance! Any time it came to load, I started to panic and of course, the horses knew this too and were always difficult to load which was a vicious circle. My friend helped me as much as possible and I wouldn't have bothered at all if she hadn't been there to spur me on. When I had my first horse I rode everywhere I wanted to go so it didn't bother me then. Over the years I had good times loading and bad but I very rarely went anywhere myself for fear of spending the night there if the horse wouldn't go back in!! and I had a few narrow escapes when it looked like I should have brought a sleeping bag.
Then I lost my friend and knew if I didn't do it myself I was grounded as over the winter there were few places to ride where I didn't have to get the trailer out. I was persuaded to change my trailer to a more user friendly one and lo and behold things started to change for me. I can go wherever I want, I feel my life has changed so much. I get out really often, the horse is loading well and I am HAPPY!! What was the difference? I am not sure maybe it was the new trailer, maybe the fact that I wanted to do it so much and that I was on my own. Anyway it does show that it can be done!! even by me.:)
