A question for judges:), or any1 who knows!

When Roxy is full clipped, last year i had a love heart left on her bum:)
Was going to hav the same done this year, then it occured to me that as i do shows throught the winter this may get me marked down? No1 said anything to me when i showed with it last year, but just wondering if it could affect how she does?
I normally show in Ridden Coloured, Equitaion etc... at local level,
Here's a foto (although its not very clear on this foto, you can see it really clearly in real life;))

Ummm I cant see a picture?? :o I dont do a lot of showing but I wouldnt have thought that you would get marked down unless you are showing proffesionally, as long as your horse is turned out well and the heart isnt messy or to over the top. :)

Oh I can see the pic now! It looks cute!

I personally wouldnt mark you down at a local show. But I know a lot of judges that would.

Many judges won't look favourably on it, and some may be distracted from it because it's not traditionally correct.

We bought a pony earlier in the year who'd had hearts clipped in to his flanks, and I spent an hour or so removing them with scissors and a comb for his first show!

if it was between two horses for a placeing ,the judge would pick the horse without,im affraid,as cute as it looks, some people take showing rather serious at ANY level.:o

Girl on our yard qualified for the Premier champs. By the time she went the horse had a playboy bunny on its bum :D

She came last, dont know if that had anything to do with the bunny :D

I honestly wouldn't do it if you want to show.

You should come to Canada. We wouldn't make a big deal out of something like that. Far more liberal as we are talking about the ride.

A line/halter class might be a different matter though.

Ooh, now I am a snotty old fart when it comes to the showring.

Don't care what folk get up to in the horse world, variety and all that, but if you are going to do a discipline, do it to the best of your ability according to the rules and accepted practice.

So, being the crusty old fart that I am, I'd sniff at it ;) ;) even at local level.....unless the rest of the field were useless! But it might be the difference between first and second place.

Well Wally can I be a crusty old fart too? I would have to say it will be a huge and resounding NO from the majority of showing judges. Great for the kids out jumping, hunting and having fun, but for showing a definite no.

A lot of the kids on our yard have given us bizarre clipping requests (Superman, Names etc), but we have had to talk some out of it as they will be showing through the winter and would be totally gutted when they get marked down.

I fail to see why local shows cannot aspire to high standards.

there is a local driving show not far from me, the standard is dowright dangerous, and they seem to think as it is a "local show for local people" this kind of dangerous practice is okay. Why not aspire to a high standard from the grass roots.
