My horse has thin soles and I've been advised to use this product. His hoof quality is good and previous posts have suggested I try Keratex, even adding it to his frog diluted. He still seems a bit footy and this was when I was told about the no bute. Will it work, are there side affects? Anyone have any ideas?? He has been stumbling on stony ground a lot more this week.

i'd worry about masking the problem with no-bute, and him bruising his soles even more. it will work, it's quite powerful stuff, but it won't help the cause. how about looking into shoeing with pads? 2 of ours have pads, and we've had no problems with their feet (well, no more than any horse, and not pad-related!) they both stumble on stony ground without them.

I tired no bute with my horse as he suffers from navicular and arthritis. To be honest i didnt notice much difference in him. My friend fed it to her horse i cant remember what for but he was in a little pain. it seemed to work with him.

I guess its trial and error some horses respond to it others dont. A hoof hardener is a good idea. Ive heard loads of good results from keratex. Effol is also good. I used stockholm tar to strengthen my horses feet after all of this rain its worked wonders (it also gets rid of thrush!)

It may be worth ** while trying no bute but it may not work on your horse. I have never heard of any bad side effects.

Hi There, I've had him on No bute now for about a week, but he hasn't been on stoney ground again yet, so I don't know if it's helping or not. What if any pain killer did you use for the navicular?
I bought a spray yesterday which is called Hoof and Sole Protector so I'm going to give that a try.
