Please can someone tell me the standard width of a noseband for a Heavyweight cob. Also where can you buy them as I can't find one anywhere?

There is no standard width. I had mine made for the showcob I used to own. Not on yard at mo, but think it was about 2.5 inches wide, it was certainly in proportion to his face. I believe Lynne Russell has her own line of tack, or you could try somewhere like Pretty Ponies, or a bridlework specialist like Kate Negus.

there are a few specialist showing equipment shops like fylde, pretty ponies etc. they might stock the wider ones. as jane says, it is a mater of what flatters your cob's face, for width. i've seen some very wide ones. you may need to get one made, most saddleries can do bespoke.

They had a mahoosive selection of wide to XX wide plain hunter cavesson nosebands on a stand at Your Horse Live last year. As I have a repeat visit planned for next Friday (yeay!) would you like me to see if they are there again and find out whether they do mail order?

I have this problem with Kai.. Cob size bridle fit him as his head is quite short... but then the nosebands are always to small. I find if I buy a Full Or extra Full noseband these always fit him fine x

Jeffries do a 2" wide one which is wide enough for most show cobs. Any saddlers which sell Jeffries can get you one in a few days.

I've got the 2" Jeffries one on my cob, and it looks really smart. Worked out quite expensive on it's own so I ended up buying the whole bridle. At least that way, it all looks in proportion.
