I'm lookin forward to it but kinda nervous at the same time, OH has categorically told me I'm not allowed to fall off again, I promise I'll try not to!!! I'm still a little twingy if I bend down but I'm fine walking twistin an everythin else, will explain to instructor that my backs still only 95% and can we take it easy.
OH has been told tho if the horse does mess about at all to keep the camera at the ready I was very impressed that he caught the fall on vid last time :D

Anyways wish me luck guys will keep you posted ;)

I didn't see the post about your fall, but I'm glad you are feeling better.

Try to put it from your mind and enjoy your lesson :)

I didn't see your post about the fall either. It knocks you for six doesn't it?

It must be weird though to be able to watch your fall back on video ...... you should start a thread for everyone to post their 'falling off videos' on here. Would be a great thread :p ;)

Hope your lesson goes smoothly tonight.

You will be fine! I have my 82 year old mother living in a granny annexe and she went pale and started going on about me riding again at my age, osteoporosis, brittle bones etc, after my fall on Sunday. But this is a heart thing riding, and you have to follow your heart. As long as you are sensible about your riding ability, you will be ok.

Saying that, I have a lesson on Thursday and I know there is a bottle of Rescue Remedy in the tack-room!

There's a lot to be said for being 16 years old, two stone lighter and having a nice bouncy body. When I hit the ground it sounded like an earthquake!

Best of luck!;)

Thanks guys! I must admit I did get a lecture off my mum an dad about being careful cob girl, you can really damage yourself blah blah blah!
However I seem to remember a story about my mum being 'given' a horse when she was 16 and her mum and dad went to see him and her together before they'd let her, yes she fell off and got up smiling or they'd have said no. She did get her lovely conemara cross domino so lets be fair she can't really grumble at me :D

For those of you who missed it her's the fall

Isn't great on here, I really love the horsey support you get, don't you all agree it keeps you sane, in normal life when you talk about horses your either mad or you start gettin a glazed, bored expression after a while :D (I've not really got many horsey friends)

Ouch, looks like you wacked your head too. Did you have a headache after that? Must have been sore for a few days. Glad to see it didn't phase you and impressed as well that you have the fall on video. Best of luck in your next lesson, keep having fun. You look nice on the horse, very relaxed and it's nice to see you give him that pat on his neck!

bless him that corner was terrifying for him, I could see his point, after a couple of little spooks I didn't like it much myself LOL
I must admit I was most impressed OH caught it on vid :D Nice of you to say I look relaxed i hope I feel it later ;)

Oh my gosh, shire monster, that was an almost identical fall to mine:eek: Glad you are ok and that like me, you got back on. It just shows you that we have to be thinking on our feet, (not literally, lol) all the time when we are around these guys!

Hope you are not so bruised now;)

Hope you are not too sore now.:)

Well thats my first lesson since over and done with, I didn't ride Tom I was on a chestnut mare called Gemma, little sweetie she was, responded to me fussing over her, I like to have a little 'chat' before I ride (Tom is very aloof just looks at you if you try to fuss him as tho he's questioning whether you are worthy of his attention  men!)
Anyways, back to the lesson, She's an ID x TB very pretty lady 16h, I'm stood in the wrong end of the school (where she'd been left from the previous lesson) 1st hurdle - walking her down to the other end, she didn't wanna move, clicking and clucking all the way we eventually arrive in the end we'll be working in. Mount up - no problem there. Fix stirrups - again no probs. Ooh I'll just get you a stick instructor says - not a good sign - I've never been someone against using one I've always ridden with one in the past, not with tom tho, but when before we get into walk instructor exits to get one this is surely a bad sign?
Walk on ... walk on ... please walk on ok so eventually we get into walk and the tongue comes out :D anything faster than halt we had the tongue the whole lesson I swear she was saying ner ner na ner ner. Trot on yeah right you are joking, two strides of trot back to walk, three strides, back to walk tap tap ... walk a bit faster ooh and round about now I figure the steerings broke too we want to join the other horses up the other end apparantly
I'm absolutely EXHAUSTED by this point 10 minutes in and I'm panting like I've just run a marathon. Must admit I'm feelin kinda confident round about now that she's not goin to run away with me which was kinda a good point.
Anyways, eventually we got a good trot together, very comfy trot, not as bouncy as tom, last 10 minutes we started getting a bit of shape too, first she dropped her head then pulled it in from where I was sitting she looked kinda pretty and RI said she's making a nice shape. Asked me if I felt up to canter, was expecting at least 3 laps of at the next corner and can ... right at this corner cant... HOWEVER after a little jog an a teensy little buck at the second corner we got a very lovely canter bless her!
So that sums up my lesson, sorry for rambling :D I am riding her again next week, am I mad ... possibly. It was a choice between her and Tom, he's very easy (even if I did fly off him :D) gotta chase him a little at the very beginning but once he's going he's great, ask for walk trot canter yielding I got it 95 out of 100 times. with Gemma 5 out of 100 BUT by the end of the lesson getting the canter and shape I really felt I'd achieved something.
ANYWAYS - to sum up I really really enjoyed myself even if most of it was a bit of a battle I had a great time :D

Sounds like a good lesson to me.

Did your OH get any vids this time? (Sorry I can't stop myself from asking:D)

I think you've done the right thing by picking her next week - hopefully you'll find it easier to get her working nicely. Enjoy.

BTW How's the share going?

Shire Monster

He did get a few short vids, I'll download them tomorrow ;) the one from the end of the lesson when we had a nice shape I think :D did really enjoy myself, will probably ache more tomorro cos I've worked harder this week
Things goin good with Millie too she's a little sweetheart, love her to pieces, still not ridden her, need a saddle that fits her first, she's big (obviously she's a shire) she's wide though not as wide as she will be eventually with a bit more muscle tone but she's got really high withers, kinda awkward size and shape. Will be nervous when I get on her for the first time, her owner sat on her a few weeks back now and she was so good even though she'd not been sat on for a very very long time,
ooh I could just kiss her right now ... well I could if she was here anyways ;)

Well done Shire Monster, not for the good lesson, but for the near perfect vid of the flying fall.;) Are you going to send it to "You've been Framed" and pay for some more riding lessons?

Seriously, glad you're OK. And wasn't it you who was posting about weight problems? You certainly seem to have sorted that one out. Well done you.

Well done on the lesson today.I still have a month or so to go before I can get back on and am getting impatient.

OH was lookin at the camera not at me, it was only really as i hit the floor he realised bless him, I was soooo pleased he caught it though, he only normally records a couple of 2-3 minute bits, its just nice to like back at, so I glad he got that bit :D
Yeah it was me who posted 'help larger person want's to ride' cazrider, I'm still too heavy for most schools in my area but eventually I'm hopin to get to such a weight that I could walk into anywhere and say I'd like to book a lesson please, I probably wouldn't and would stick where I am BUT it would be nice to be able to if I wanted a change, or if I was on holiday or summink.
Thanks for your support guys :D

Great that you had such a wonderful lesson - isn't it amazing that one lesson can differ so much from the next?

I have my lesson tomorrow afternoon (eekk) only going to do some trotting though (trying to polish up my extended trot). My bruises are now going black, lol!! I had a little whiplash as well.

Glad to hear your lesson went well. I hope mine does on Sunday, after my fall I was kind of tense so it was hard soften my seat which is what I need to concentrate on. After my fall on Sunday I was happy to see all the other fall offs! Felt like I was in good company:D

You'll so appreciate those vids when you've been back a while, it's just wonderful to be able to see your progress (especially after those lessons where nothing goes right and you feel you're right back at the beginning again )

Unfortunatly there are two types of riders: those who have fallen off, and those who will fall off! Take care !

I liked that Willy, how true is it! I'll except the odd fall and learn from it no doubt, I just hope I don't make a habit out of it :D
Ooh and good luck for sunday rebecca, you'll have a great time I'm sure ;)
