First lesson since I was a teen today and it was great!!! Private lesson on a lovely cob gelding called Socks. He was lovely didn't move at all when I was getting on...in fact to be honest it was a struggle to get him to move at all! It all came back to me, I was expecting to be bouncing all over the place but it was ok! Sure I wasn't perfect but better than I expected and I'm really pleased with myself. Into regular lessons now! Only thing is MY LEGS ARE KILLIN!! Radox in on offer this week in Tesco woo hoo! I am well and truly hooked now!

well done, i returned to riding about 3 months ago after having a break of 15 years
I have found my hips just do not want to go into those positions anymore and am doing lots of exercises to help but still feel a tad sore after each lesson.
No doubt you will get hooked again as much as i have and now i just want to spend all my spare time with horses and have plans to buy my own again in a year or so

Glad you have found your seat again! You will be sore for a while but it soon wears off. Imagine how I felt when I got off my first ride after a break of 40 years and the next day I could hardly sit down. But now been back 'at it' for 6 months and now hardly feel a thing, except when I fall off and strain my groin overdoing the extended trot, lol!!

a friend of mine pops on mollie every now and then, i do push her hard but she is coming along nicely. she even had a few steps in canter the other day. I dont like mollie getting bad habits so make sure she is kept going, doesnt stop to talk to people, does something different all the time, make sure she is kept in control. but after she walks like john wayne. honest to god it is so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its like she has a ball between her legs:D:D:D:D:D It will get easier for her eventually in the mean time I can have a great laugh.
i was the same too, now i only pop on for ten minutes once a week (up the duff) but its like riding a bike my muscles are fine (ok only for 10 minutes)

I remember after my very first lesson it took almost a week for the ache to totally go away:eek:
But it is amazing how after just a few lessons you no longer ache and now I wouldn't even know I have been riding unless I did something really different.
