I had my weekly lesson this morning - am working towards competing at dressage - last week we tried cantering across the diagonal trotting a few strides at X then opposite canter lead. All was well this morning - trot was very good (according to instructor) then started the canter across the diagonal came back to trot when asked (last week he kept anticipating and doing the most amazing flying changes) then off in canter again on the correct leg - but as we came round the bottom corner something must have spooked him as he shot off very fast and, as i was trying to bring him back he did a huge buck!!!!! Naughty boy!!! But i stayed on - was a bit shacky but my instructor soon had me cantering round and round. Trying not to dwell on it too much - she says that in a years time i will be totally used to him and that a buck like that will be fun:eek: !!!!!!!!!!!!!! On a good note my instructor told me that in her eyes that was the best lesson yet in terms of positon, riding, and all the other technicla stuff - so all in all I am very pleased.
On a final note - i was so engrossed in telling my husband on the phone about it all that i wasnt consentrating and nearly put pony out in the big herd of girls' field - he is a bit riggy anyway having not been cut till he was 8!!! - that would have been fun! i had my hand on the gate when i realised! Silly me!!!:o

A big well done to you - people who do not understand riding would be horrified if they read half of these reports!
