The hacking will come and that is another ball game! I started riding 6 months ago after a break of 40 years! Rode from a young girl up until I was 17 or 18 years of age...yeah, I know makes me old!! Lost all my confidence and am starting from scratch.

Have been on a couple of hacks and realised just how much I used to love hacking and also XC. Don't jump anymore either;) You need the confidence that comes with having professional lessons so that you have everything in place for when you are out on a hack. Be really confident in your walk, halts, half-halts, trotting and cantering. I would also learn emergency dismount as well!! Plus you need to learn how to ride on the roads, very important for both yourself and your horse.

When your time comes to hack, it will be amazing, but hey, keep the best for the last. It may seem boring at times in the menage, but experience is what you need and also confidence in riding. Enjoy every hour in the saddle learning new things.

Best of luck!

Thanks :)

I never find it boring, then I suppose I have alot to learn, I don't even find lungeing lessons boring (some people I know do) and I love trotting lol
Emergancy dismount? I can't do a normal dismount without nearly falling off or over lol and I am stupid enough to walk BEHIND the horse when my instuctor says go round the FRONT :D and I don't even know my left and right lol.

I am probably going to weave in and out of cones again, I need to work on my steering, I give Misty too much rein lol
