I had a b***h of a time with our lesson tonight. I could not keep him forward and he just resisted me all over the arena. She had us doing this tight box that Charlie just hates to hell and gone, then going into a cantor on that box. Geeze, he can barely steer in cantor but by god we made that one box. LOL The new (old) dressage saddle is helping immensely to keep the cantor going. That damned wintec had me in a chair and didn’t realize it.

Trainer did give me a really cool way to get him going and forward (he was like upright and hollowbacked and it sucked!) we would walk the square, ask light with leg for trot, if I didn’t get a trot or even a half a$$ed trot.. Crop on the belly with long dressage whip, back down to walk, ask again.. Then get into trot and every third stride tiny light whip hit behind saddle. Before even a full square he was moving in a nice forward trot I needed.

I adore my trainer, but I tell ya, I don’t think she’s not used to messed up horses like mine. She wants a canter in this tight little box we have trouble doing. I know, quit whining and do it, right? It’s freeking hard with a stiff assed horse like mine. LOL We couldn’t even do a 20 meter and she has us in a square.. LOL Baby steps man..

She starts telling us to do this leg yield to quarter and back, little bastard pops out a shoulder and I get a litany for 10 minutes about it. Hehehe She is effective or I wouldn’t bother, but you know, sitting in on one of <other instructer name here> lessons is even harder. That woman puts out some good riders though. The boring exercise routines really do work.
