wooohoooo -
had my first proper lesson today!!
I can trot as well!!!!!
i knwo it seems a bit basic but I was put in a group with quiet good riders and was given a whopping big 17hh piebald mare called Cher - was warned even before I mounted that she can be grumpy and a bit of a madam...wasnt long before she tried cutting corners in the arena and I learnt to be much more firm with her!!!
Did some walking to warm up and then the RI made us all trot and change reins (think thats the expresion she used...) and go all over the place - was very bouncy when trotting to start with but found my rhythum pretty quick and loved it!!!!!!!!!!!
all booked again next week but must remember my riding gloves as my hands are frozen !!!!!

Good for you, sounds like you will take to it like a fish to water! Just remember to breathe and smile you can't go wrong with those two things.
the art of horseriding is actually liking it! It is addictive and before long, you will be learning loads. Take each lesson for what it is and learn as you go. Trying to do too much, too soon is a mistake but perfecting what you can do is good!
Well done, keep us informed as you progress.

Good for you, the more you are around horses, the better things will be. Tacking up is a good way for you to learn about horses. Some are easy to tack up some are not!
I don't think you ever stop learning to ride - it is also a good way of keeping fit, especially for us oldies, helps to keep the middle age spread at bay!

AH, well done! Im v proud of you :D
Unfortunatly now you have started your lessons you will get hooked and you will bore all freinds and family stupid (especially if there not horsey).
This place is great to share your experiences without boring anyone, lol :)
Its great you get to tack up, see if they will let you groom the horse before you tack up as this is also a great way to get to know the horses

Oh dear oh dear, you have been bitten by the bug hanv't you, never mind, welcome to the world that is horses. Before the year is out you'll have higs as high as you've ever been and then they'll bring you so low you'll wonder why you started!
But in general it's all fun! ;)
