Hello all,

know there is a tack forum, but as I started out on this one wondered if any of you have experience of 'prolite' panels?

My young boy (5 years) TB ex racer has been tried with numerous saddles, and eventually I borrowed a leather from a friend with a similar TB. Tolerated this one so I have been looking on ebay to see whether I could get one with similar dimensions. Did that and quite cheaply (its quite an old English leather)
so decided to have it reflocked and overhauled.

Having done that he seemed to like it and it fitted well, but because of its age, it still felt a bit 'wobbly' to me in the sitting position:confused:. Back to drawing board...

Cutting a long and boring story short, sent for the saddle fitter again, who tried loads on him including Thorowgood HWither and Wintec, and came to the conclusion he would be better overwintering in his existing 2nd hand with a 'prolite' with a 4mm insert. It seems more secure to me now but have only walked and trotted in the school with it at the demo. Mucho impressed tho with the company (Suffolk), because they could have had me spending lorra lorra money with not much better result. Will definately have them back in late Fed, to see how his shape has changed over winter and of course he will be six! and probably skeletally he may have changed a little.

Does anyone use these panels? and if so any tips??? OUmbagirl

ps. because I am a newbie to this site can anyone tell me how to put a photo of my boy on here? I have seen loads of lovely postings with photo's and links to video's etc but my skills at IT leave a little to be desired.

p.p.s. also recommendations for some sturdy slip-proof wellies for yard work would be good. In our yard there up to 6 inches of mud now to talk through to get to the stables from turnout and I am fed up of falling over!!!:D

Can't help you with the panels but re photos, go to www.photobucket.com and set yourself up an account. You can then upload photos to there and then use the code which says "IMG Code" to paste into threads on here.

Re Wellies, I believe you can't go wrong with Hunters. I know they are more expensive than some but they are really comfy - I walk my dogs in mine and never ever get blisters.

No good with saddle advice but I would recommend the Muck Boot Company "Derwent" boots for keeping your feet toasty AND gripability....
