Hello!
My horse cut her leg about a month back and the cut was about 2 feet long but it wasnt deep, and for a while it was a bit swollen. This was like a month and a half ago and when i was at the barn on Saturday there was alot of heat in that leg (the cut is healed) so i just put some muscle liniment on it. Some one told me that i should give her a shot of *penicillin* but i dont really want to unless it is absouloutley called for.... so should i give her penicillin or maybe just keep putting muscle liniment on it? thanks! bye!:( ;)

Was there any swelling or anything? on saturadya/
Im sure that cold hosing couldnt hurt or anything, if it is swollen.

Hello!
No, there wasnt any swelling on Saturday but there was ALOT of heat, my mom even noticed it and she normally can't tell if tehre is heat.
I dont really wanna cold hose it cuz i dont want to put any strain on Tessa's leg because she hates hoses/cold water and if she freaked out i wouldnt want to do anything to make her leg worse... any other advice? Thanks Alot! Bye!

What about those ice packs that have like some special formula that makes them cold (*but its really not ice?) would that work?

I don't feel that a shot of penicillin could cause your horse any harm , it sounds as though there may be infection present. Cold hosing is the best option for reducing heat and swelling in the leg especially if you are not sure as to what the exact problem is , I would be getting the vet to come and see her.

Hey!
I just wanted to let all of you know i will be getting out to the barn on Wendsday adn i will check her leg and if it looks bad then i will call the vet, but if it just has a little bit of heat i will put some *Green Cool* on it..... and if its the same amount of heat as last time then i will put on alot of green cool on it and then maybe put a vetwrap on it. And maybe request that she be put in a smaller paddocks by herself so she wont put strain on it. im sure its nothin major..... and the leg she cut was her one leg thats all black..... it could have been a little more hot because of the whole thing with the fact the sun is attracted to black. but i dont know thanks for your help though everyone!! bye!;)
