How much would you pay for a saddle company saddle, black 17. 5 think it is set a medium, general purpose, restuffed about 9 months ago and been used only a dozen times since, roughly 3 years old, good condition with general wear and tear. Not trying to sell but someone at yard wants mine and I don't want to let it go for too cheap!

Thanks!

I'm not too hot on saddle devaluation over the years, but Poohsmate is the man to talk to.

If the saddle is in good condition, usuable but doesn't look too used would the age affect the price?

I was saying to someone the other day that Saddle fitting is a sort of hidden art or skill, as it is one of those practices in the equestrian world where alot of people think they know about it, where as most know nothing factual. So you get a lot of uninformed opinions thrown at you, which can leave people confused. No wonder theres so many bad horsie backs out there!

I'm interested to know if I got a good deal or paid over the odds as well. Bought a second hand, medium wide general purpose 18". I'll post a picture:

Here it is

The stirrup leather marks aren't indented on the leather.

If any one wants to let me know how much they would expect to pay for it, I would be grateful. I don't mind if you post it in here or PM me. :)

Thanks and sorry for the mini hi-jack there:o

I've never paid more than £200 for second hand saddle co saddles off ebay, I wouldn't spend more than £250 at most for a second hand one.

I got a 'speshul' deal on a saddle co stressarge saddle recently, but I am a very lucky girl and I won't make you all sick by telling you how much I paid for it! (Thanks Norm:D) but I would expect to pay anywhere between £200 and £350 for a second hand half and half GP, WH or Cob style Saddle co depending on the condition.

Second hand prices for Sc saddles do vary quite considerably, i suppose it depends on the number of people that want it on the day.
This certainly seems to apply on ebay where prices vary from £150- £350 for the verona range, alot of course depends on condition and age.
I fitted one on saturday that a lady had bought for £300 on ebay and the saddle had not even been bedded in so had only been ridden in for about 2 hours... a bargain...
When buying them second hand it is probably advisable to get them checked out by a SC fitter/agent as i know of some cases where SC saddles are being sold as leather/synthetic and are in fact the all sythetic version...also know of two cases where people have bought saddles that were advertised as SC saddles only to find they were not on arrival:eek: and also a lot of older models are being sold as newish!!! a fairly good guide is that the older saddles did not have removable velcro knee blocks.:)

I just paid £230 for a new Saddle Company GP saddle from ebay - had been tried on a couple of times and that was it - not even a mark on the girth straps.

I am about to buy a saddle co saddle for £250 its a 17" WH with a square cantel. States its half leather/half synthetic and in vgc just abit concerned after reading a post on this thread that it might be an older model, can anyone tell from looking at the pics - abit of a long shot i know?!
And if anyone can help me with that, is this then a reasonable price?
