Dont think of it as a course. Just a number of single fences that have to be jumped in a certain order. So the only fence you need to think about is the one you are approaching. :D
Use ALL the areana to give yourself as much time as possible between fences.

Dpn't panic and remember it's supposed to be fun :D It doesn't matter how well/badly you do as long as you enjoy yourself.

Agree with DavidH points but also remember to memorise the course well so you don't forget it halfway round and can concentrate on the jumping!

Walk it twice and walk exactely the line you will take when riding. Then close your eyes and visualise the course. If you can then fine, if you cant - walk it again.
Also helps to watch a few go round before you jump

Agree with DavidH - walk it as many times as possible, walking the lines you pla to ride.
It helps to watch about at least 2 ppl before you enter.

I used to try and rmember a defining feature about each jump and remember it like that so rather than just learning fence one, it would be "fence one, red and blue stripes). So then when I was riding the course I'd automatically think "Fence 3?" and the immediate association would be "green wavy planks" which I could then see where my next fence was....hope that makes sense and doesnt confuse you!

Godd luck and don't forget pictures!

The first and only SJ course (at a show) I ever did, I arrived late to do my round, having not walked the course, so I literally dismounted ran round the course, jumped back on and did it.

I didn't forget it (save for one fence that didn't have a number on it so I didn't know it was part of a combination) so you should be fine:)

Have fun, don't forget the piccies!:D

just relax -- if not to high and not to brave do it in trot
pratice a clear round before you go in
dont worry about getting a ribbon thats a bonus

just go in there and try thats the main thing-- if yoy dont come anywhere dont be upset-- as this is your 1st one-- matey thats an achievement in itself
to get in the ring and try--- so go on and go for it
