i'm using the owner's tack for my lease horse. He has a baby pad and a square foam pad to go under the saddle, but the blanket is so small I have trouble getting it positioned just right under the saddle, and the foam pad only goes across the top of his back, not completely between his back and the saddle.
My RS used fleece pads and i'm thinking of just buying one of these, or maybe a felt one thats bigger than the baby blanket. I've also seen gel pads and I don't know which is better!
Love to know what you use and what you are happy with- this is for a 15h mustang.

Edit: Also, the owner is a lot smaller than me and the saddle is probably too small for me. I don't know the size of it- but what size saddle do some of you "delightfully plump" ladies, like me use? I am 180lbs, or about 13 or 14 stone. and 5'7"
thanks so much- this site is so helpful :)

I use this

It's lambskin, very very soft, but it set me back just short of £100. I haven't had to wash it since I got it in March, it's been ridden on almost daily, it's retained its qualities perfectly and simply needed a dusting off with the fingers, although whilst he's still off ridden work I intend to get the job done. ;)

Bear in mind that a saddle cloth can alter the fit of the saddle, for example mine is quite thick but it compresses down quite a bit when used, so it's worth getting somebody to double check things still fit. :)

I SO want one of those! I wanted to buy one for my saddle today but they didn't have my size. I didn't realize it could alter the saddle fit! Thanks for letting me know. I will keep it in mind when I buy one. It IS so soft though, you're right. For now I have the regular quilted saddle pad.

I used an 18" saddle when I weighed 195 I am now quite heavier ( working on getting down in weight!) and 18" is a bit too small for me. I reckon you would take a 17" or up perhaps?

Thanks for the replies! What brand is that saddle pad?
WL, I kind of figured I'd need a 17 or 18. The owner is sooo petite! the pomel hurts my crotch half the time and i can just picture my arse spilling out the back- hahaha. I'll have to measure it next time and see what size that saddle is.
