It's fantastic fun if you've got guts and a suitable horse. There are novice, intermediate and open classes, some qualifying for the nationals. Most are run by hunts and are over courses used only for team chasing.
A good team has to have an appropriate mix of horses and riders, it'll be hectic if you have 3 horses who have to be in front, no riders (or horses) who are willing to take the lead, or very mismatched speeds for example. However it's great fun if you like and adrenaline rush!

I used to compete in open team chases with the court flyers for a couple of seasons.
Apart from the fact that it's easier to do if heavily drugged, it is great fun. :D It is very hairy stuff though, even some of the novice courses can be hefty and sometimes incorporate some of the open fences, but as long as you're brave, experienced and have a bold, capable horse and a good insurance policy, go for it. :)
I ended up having a serious accident at my last team chase in 2004 and that pretty much resulted in the end of my beloved ned. I haven't done it again since and am still regaining my confidence over solid fences, but it was just one of those things. The events are well organised and some of the courses are brilliant!
Here are some piccies:

It's a phase some of us put ourselves through...usually drunken, or drugged... there are hedges, and solid fences **stratches head and tries to think through the drunken haze** and lots of galloping hoof-sounds; maybe sixteen horses, blurred... or is it 4 horses, unblurred?? Ooo... and the hospitality tent and bar... lots of drinks! *Hic!*... Ooo... now it's the hospital... lots of broken bones!! *Ouch!* :D :D
You ride as a team of 4 round a xc course for the fastest time. In a nutshell! :)
