ok....iv been riding for a while now but after a fall i have only really been doing treks and a few lessons in between! im going to start proper lessons again soon. i wud be grateful if someone cud go over the basics for me! stuff like....

hand position

rein length in trot and canter(im always told they are too loose or too tight!)

leg position when asking for trot and turning a corner

and any other hints on position!

these seem simple and i probably know the answers but i want to be sure! it is kind of embarresing to ask these simple things!

Amylou_84, if you look through the NR site, you'll find good answers to some of these questions.

Make sure that you ask you instructor all these question as it is easier for him/her to explain to you on a horse. I always find that in theory I can do everything but when set on a horse I tend to forget and do all the wrong things, or atleast I did when I started riding, but it took me 3 years to get it right!! and that was with riding everyday and having a little help from an instructor,

Well heels down (lol I had to say that!:D), back straight, eyes foward, shoulders square, and of course smile and have fun cuz that's what riding is about!
