Hi

Mine is a bit smaller IdxTb so just XL! but I still struggle a bit sometimes so searched for previous qs on this area for you.

here is the response to a q similar to yours, doesnt sound cheap tho.....

Q: I own a 17hh part-bred Shire/Thoroughbred mare and find it very difficult to find big enough rugs and tack to fit.Can you advice on where I should go?

Carolyn Henderson replies: "There are several companies which make made-to-measure rugs, such as Lansdown, (tel: 0117 932 4609).

You might also like to get in touch with the Society of Master Saddlers, (tel: 01449 711 642) and the Shire Horse Society, (tel: 01733 234 451) for further advice."

Andrew Jackson of Work Horse Sundries, says: "You may like to know that we make heavy horse harnesses and riding tack, some of which can be seen on our website: www.workhorsesundries.com

We can send a free catalogue, including a measurement chart for made-to-measure items.

Contact: 2 Main Street, Wardy Hill, Ely, Cambs, CB6 2DF. (tel: 01353 778 713).

Thanks so much for this, it's really appreciated!

I did try a search using the word Shire but all I kept getting were references to Shires Equestrian!

I'll use your info and start investigating, thanks again!

I had a shire cross, and had bridle problems mainly!!

I bought extra full, however the nosebands still never fitted!. I gave up in the end and went nosebandless!

Didnt have the great NR contacts at the time tho!! :p

You will probably find you have to get a bit made as tack shops never have them big enough. My boy just about fits in extra full bridle but have heard of saddlers making bridles for shires.

Denbenj - totally agree about the bridle probs! took me 3 attempts to get one to fit, eventually got one off ebay - just have to make sure you find out the size of all the parts first, especially noseband and browband.

My boy needs an 18" browband and i have found x full bridles for sale with only 16" browbands!

Have you tried the site www.unicornleather.co.uk some nice stuff on there, it's expensive because it's all hand made in England.
