:confused:are you struggling to get to grips with dressage competitions, try test riding as an alternitive to just stepping into a competition. Has anyone been to test riding what do you think?

The test riding events which I have attended are in the format of - you are given a riding time like you would at a competition, you work your horse in by yourself like a competition situation then at your time you go and ride your choosen test. You are judged as in competition and receive a test sheet with the judges comments on and scores. You then recieve a private lesson either with an independent trainer or by the judge depending which organiser/venue etc you attend. After the private lesson you re ride your test hopefully putting into practise the infiramtion from the lesson to hopefully get a greater score when judged again. You can then take home two test sheets for your records.
Hopefully this is some help.

Maybe get onto venues in your area - if there is interest in your area maybe events could be held in your area. Good Luck - keep me informed!

To expand on this they are usually done by a panel of judges as a part of a judges clinic so the judges get a sense of what is right or wrong in judging in the various tests been ridden by the "test" rider.
Good for the rider and learning judges.
Bad because judges seem to "remember" flaws shown by riders and can in later tests be influenced by what they saw previously.
