I will be going to mountains for 2 weeks max I think and I've found there are quite a few people leasing there horses in that area i'll be going with my family . But, leasing is normally per month, so is that gonna be a prob for me? Also, I just want to help take care of it and ride it a lot while I'm up there. Though I might have to go places with my family when we're up there, even though we've been there before. Anyway, what do you all think?

You'll get answers when those who have them read your post. And shouting or complaining isn't going to attract replies...
I for one cannot answer your question; perhaps someone who can will come along later.

Gosh I really have never heard of an arrangement like the one you are describing so I am a bit unsure on how to respond ;). Where we are actual lease horses are leased out usually at riding stables and leased to students they know well to ensure the horse is well taken care of and suitable for the rider. It's actually kind of an honor to be offered a horse for lease.
Then there are those vacation ranches that rent horses for trail rides. Those horses are not sent off by themselves though. You go out with a wrangler.
I really can't imagine anybody willing to lease their horse to a vacationer for 2 weeks but maybe I am not understanding your question correctly?
I would think your best bet is a rental place that caters to vacationers and do the guided trail rides. That way they also can help you in regards to safe trails, footing, etc.

The problem is that most of us (though not all, by any means ) are UK based, so we don't even know which mountains you mean !! Could you go on the internet and find out if there are any horse-leasing operations in the area you will be visiting, and then phone them up and see if they'd do you a 2 week lease? If there is nothing on the internet, phone up a few hotels or resorts in the area or the local tourist board (do you have those?), and ask them.
I don't think you'd have a problem looking after the horse AND going to places with your family - you don't have to spend every single hour caring for your lease horse.

being closer to you i can give a north american aspect. and its NOPE not a lease but you may go for trail rides i assume on a rent for an hour ride thing which are pretty expensive. i am debating that in a few years i will lease my mare out and one thing i would say is that i wouldn't lease out my horse to someone on vacation for only 2 weeks. i agree with KarinUS that leases are for people that we know that will take good care of our horse and are more long term. Its no offence to you, and your not the only one that gets threads not replied too aswell, it just depends on what knowledge fellow newriders know and or "don't have anything nice to say so don't say anything at all" type thing.

Thanks everyone for replying and answering my question. Well, for trail riding, there's not a place to "rent", and don't hav a clue if there's any trail riding up there, but when we do go we'll check at least I will :) . Thanks again for your help.

you could also check with a travel agent from that area, to see if anything horse related exists that could fulfill your "horsey urges" while on vacation. Maybe you'll even run past a local family that wants someone to ride one of their "spare" horses, who knows?

It's a small mtn. town and there are boarding stables around somewhere in that area or nearby, but I'm thinkin when it comes to findin a trail riding place we'll find it by means of driving and looking and spotting it on the side of the road, that's how we always find trail riding places that we go to. The thing is, i'm going with my mom and dad, and i'm only 18. But mom promised if we found one we'd go on it. But who knows.

i am glad you didn't take anything any of us said wrongly or as a negative thing. mostly if its a mountain area they have trail ride businesses you just have to ask around because they don't advertise like a restaruant does. ahv fun on your trip! by the way i am 15 (be 16 in may) so being 18 should be no problem for anything.
