Hi folks,I would like to buy a bareback pad for my 14.2 middleweight mare, charlotte. Just wanted some opinions and advice on them.Do they need breastplates? i dont want stirrups, so can you take them off?, as some ive seen on ebay have attached irons.

thanks.xx

The Best Friend Bareback pads seem good - a friend has one and it's really comfy and 'sticky' to sit on. Wouldn't work on a horse with high withers though.

If you go to www.horseandharmony.com (or .co.uk can't quite remember) they have lots there to look at, as do www.bettersaddles.co.uk - I always fancied the horsedream one from there, but couldn't quite justify the cost!

I have a best friend pad which I loved but to be honest I haven't tried anything else so have nothing to compare it with. :o

Trouble is that I don't use it now as I moved to a field and no school. Am going to start with it again for my youngster to learn on.

EEEEEEE can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!!!:D
But I gotta go through all the official design register yet so that it's safe to my name and can't be copied, but I'll let you into a little secret....... it's the only bareback pad that i've discovered that I can GUARANTEE you can mount from the ground on wherever you are, no matter how rubbish you are at mounting and that the saddle will stay in position in any discipline you choose to be involved with.
I think you will love it, I already know the horses do, it's been a long and arduous testing for me and to come to my FINAL design is such a relief, all the horses I have tested it on and everybody who I have forced to ride in it loves it.:p

I have a bestfriends bareback pad and love it. I used it on my old 15h2 t-bred mare with high withered and it was fine, no rubbing at all. Now i have a 16h2 t-bred and he loves it too. He moves a lot more smoothly with it on. A friend of mine who had a dales, fell and a t-bred and she uses it on all of them with no problems.

I got mine from www.charliesproducts.co.uk She is the main supplier of them and supplies to other equine shops and is so helpfull.
