Realised I hadn't taken any pics for a while so borrowed my housemate's posh digital camera and snapped away.

Then J's grumpy face after he'd nudged me in the back for taking pics of his little bro!

How do you think they're getting on?

Thanks :)

What a change!!! I think a huge pat on the back is due to you & your trimmer :D.

Is this also back at the yard where you wer worried his feet wouldn't cope?

yup we are back home - fortunately he was able to come out of his boots before the weather and mud got too bad. he keeps untying himself and going for walks so it can't be too uncomfortable for him!

Wow! Big improvement over how they used to be! How long has he been barefoot now?

Since august - they were all off by september.

was just looking through old threads like this one

can't believe the difference to be honest! Just need to get those front frogs going a bit better, although they have started to leave a proper hoofprint when he's got wet feet, hooray!

Wow, what a change :D Just look at that new hoof coming through on the last 'from the front' photo :D

I love watching how bare feet change shape :D

Phenomenal change Roofio - those back feet in particular look great. And the angle that's starting to grow down on the fronts is a massive improvement too. My EP reckons the first 1/4 inch (maybe 1/2?), is always to the correct angle, then after that, it depends on the foot. You've got good angled foot well past that point:D

Must be a massive relief after all the wondering if you were doing the right thing or not:)

i can't wait now for all the good stuff to grow down and those keratomas to go oh and then to get some illusive concavity! He still doesn't have the quickest growth in the world but they are constantly improving. Most definitely a relief to see them looking much better after all the heartache.

Very nice improvement especially considering he's not been shoeless that long :)

Keratomas?

the fluffy looking growths at the toes on the front feet that are causing the cracks :)

eta-http://www.mascalcia.net/articoli/a2004_72.htm

fortunately his are nowhere near as nasty as these and are gradually being trimmed out.

Sure they're keratomas and not just WLD or something? Keratomas are a tumour don't usually just go away so might not just grow out if they're keratomas.

they're not growing out as such, but as the angle improves Siobhan is able to trim them out - in older pics you can see them as rounder, cauliflowery growths rather than just the fluffy bit of horn they are now.

if it was WLD would they still be there after all the cleantraxing and regular treatment they get? all other wld seems to have gone, with the exception of these things at his toes.

WLD/seedy toe can be pretty persistent at the toe, if improving but not quite gone then maybe disinfection is working well just taking time to grow out all the damage. And there's often little bits of re-infection as damaged horn grows out.

IIRC keratomas are between the wall and p3 so wouldn't be something that'd just trim out.

hmm i dunno then! whatever it is, i want it gone!

they are both significantly reducing and the one has nearly gone so hopefully it wont be long till we have at least one crack-free foot!

eta - the one that's nearly gone is in the foot that was worse to begin with but had an extra trim and became the better front one
