I had one for a short time. She was called Lace. I'd been used to the British native ponies, then bought her. She was nowhere near as sharp or as intelligent. She was gentle but a bit moody. I broke her in and rode her quite a bit but she never got used to having to be ridden in a 'crowded' area. I kept her the other side of Hastings and rode at a place called North Seat which is a very popular place for the whole world and their dogs!!!!!
I didn't like her very much. Apart from her looks she didn't really have a lot going for her. Sold her to a nurse where I worked......now that's a tale and a half. I did my best for her, treated her the same as I treated the British native ponies, she was stabled at night. Didn't bond at all with her. I discovered afterwards that she wasn't handled until she was 3 years old, two weeks before I got her.

I have a Haffie, Liesel. She is 4 and a half and me and my RI have backed her ourselves after we got her at 3 and a quarter.

She is a British reg haffie by Barrique who is the prettiest boy pony Ive ever seen (sadly now gelded but his 3 sons are stallions)! She was in the field with her mum till we got her but was well handled and Mum (by Amadeus) was a lovely mare.

She is hacking out in company and alone and has just started jumping, which she is loving. She did her first dressage test just before her 4th birthday (walk and trot only, went well except she yelled all the time and was more interested in the cake sale in the indoor school's entrance during her test:D)

I have another horse (17hh 14yo IDxTB who weve had for 8 years), but he is shared with OH and so she is the one thats ALL MINE!

Character is about right, Liesel chats all the time, never shuts up, and is excessively friendly to everybody, mugging ramblers for kisses. She poops for Great Britain on virtually no feed.

Shes barefoot and ridden in both treed and treeless saddles.

tell us more about the lovely Oskana!

I love my haflinger and I want another one someday. He has a more involved personality that keeps you guessing as to what he will do next. Very curious and sometimes mischevious. I love him!

I've only known 2 - the first was a nappy little madam who knew exactly how much she could get away with and with whom - she found a private home where both she and her new human are very happy together. The second i bought to sell and is still with me, and although he came as a "thug" in every sense of the word he has turned out to be absolutely brilliant in every way. I couldnt afford to buy him as he is now! Totally bombproof, anyones ride and is proving a fab hunter

I was thinking about a haff for a while. I talked to my boyf's mum (stressage judge) about it and she said to be wary - esp if you buy one that's come over from ireland as there was a large herd of them over there that were allowed to run indiscriminately and the stallions started breeding their daughters, obv resulting in some fairly serious confirmational defects not to mention mental issues. Be aware of that and try to investigate the breeding of the horse if you do decide to buy one.
