Strange as it may sound... i can't work out how to describe harry's facial markings accurately :o Obviously he has a star but how is the rest described?

not great with these things but, i think you would just call it a star with snip of white above muzzel?
im sure somebody smart will correct me if wrong.:)

i always thought the snip was on the muzzle hence my confusion
also, not very clear in the pic is that the star kind of trickles into the "snip above the muzzle". it looks like someone has taken a blob of paint on his forehead (creating the star) and that its trickled down his face and got stuck on the lower bit - if that makes sense, clearer in the foal pic and ridden pic

Would that be counted as a star and stripe? Not sure with it being so narrow. That's probably what I would have gone for (and probably have got wrong ;) ).

could it be a star and race? (not heard of it before)

and even weirder... http://jhered.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/80/3/173

Isn't a 'race' more wiggly?

It's kind of like Ceryns, I class hers as a star, stripe and snip

Martini has a star and a thin stripe, though more noticeable than your horse's. It's simply described as 'star and conjoined stripe'

i think coss's pony's is different though as the stripe isnt totaly connected to the star, thats what makes it a difficult one.

I'd call it large star terminating between eyes with semi-conjoined narrow stripe terminating above muzzle.
That's accurate enough - they don't expect absolutes as long as the description fits.

Plopple - that is definitely a regular blaze, not a star and stripe!

:p as palomino mare said... the stripe is an interupted one (though you can't tell unless you are particularly close ;))
the first thing of the year i've learnt ;) :D
plopple - i'd call your horse's a blaze too :p
happy new year everyone :D
