We had the vet out on friday to see Fleur's feet. We'd asked the farrier to look at them since they'd split to her heel from yet another bout of thrush. He said nothing he could do, just our general management and that we should just use iodine.

So tried this for a week, went to have a lesson and she was very footsore. Got the vet to come out. She decided to take all shoes off, clip away dead bits of frog because underneath in the cracks the infection is lurking. Then she said flush cracks out with dilute iodine, get swabs soaked in iodine, pack into the sides of the frog and then vet wrap round. She said to continue for one week. This is on her near fore and off hind btw.

Now tonight I've went up and her near fore has some white looking stuff (when i say stuff i mean like oozy stuff, made me feel quite sick actually) in the split thats going up to her heel. It worried me and mam is going to phone vet in morning since only emergency vet on today. I put some iodine on it and just continued to poultice as normal.

Any idea what it could be/or be caused by?

Also she keeps escaping out of her back poultice, currently using a nappy and duck tape but still she's escaping  Tried to get a poultice boot but had no luck, any ideas?

thanks :)

Wrap politice in two or three carrier bags then if you have any feed bags that are plastic cut up squares of that to wrap the foot in you will need about two layers plus plenty duck tape/selotape. It will last about 12 hours if its not been pored on the ground. They usually wear the toe away but it should just about hold up if your lucky.
