The horse that lives next door to mine started coughing a few weeks ago and had a snotty nose. Vet came out, said it was a cold and gave antibiotics and ventipulmin.

My horse started coughing on Saturday, had a snotty nose on the Sunday and has only coughed since. My friend has offered me the unused half bottle of ventipulmin that she didn't use.

So, should I use it or let the cough run its course?

I use benylin cough mixture when mine have a minor cold and it works a treat. Use the medicene syringe from boots (bit like a wormer full of cough medicene). If it does not clear up after that then ring the vet. :)

it is safe to use the bottle of ventipulmin, in a yard full of youngsters, who get the snots as soon as they are bought in, always share the same bottle.
