Not a question or anything I'm just excited about my next lesson and had to talk about it :D
I've re-started riding again after a few years off, fell off the lovely TBx after a few lessons, since then I've been riding an IDx bit shorter bit wider less sharp and definately less forward going ... she's a lazy mare!! I've had some good lessons with her but on the whole she's an exhausting ride. My last lesson was awful though we did get a few nice canters she just didn't listen most of the lesson, to the point I felt like a bully with her, constantly nagging her even in walk.
Anyhow my RI said that in the new year they will have on the school a gorgeous mare who I have seen (privately owned) don't know if the school are buying her or using her, but she looks for all the world like a short shire, probably about 16-16.2hh chunky all over especially the neck she is gorgeous and moves very nicely, I am sooooo excited I can't wait, the camera will be charged for that lesson :D I really can't wait lesson is next tuesday, kinda nervous (with her being a private horse she'll probably be a completely different ride to what I've always been used to) but I'm very excited!
Watch this space :D

Oooh sounds exciting and a bit scary! I am sure you will cope brilliantly. Before my part loan girlie, I rode a couple of the current RS horses. One was a beautiful stocky pony around 14.2 he was my first ride and what a confidence giver! Moved like a dream but everybody wants to ride him (he's now been bought by a girl I know and she loves him to bits). My second ride was a 16.2 guy called Apache who is a beautiful boy but also overridden and a bit dead to the leg. I would come off him sweating and I felt awful to have to keep using my crop. He had no enthusiasm, poor thing as he was definitely worn-out. That is another reason I don't like riding RS ponies/horses.

Anyway I digressed! Hope you have a wonderful ride and yes, charge up those camera batteries!

Thanks guys, I really am excited, can't wait, got a few little vid's of Tom and of Gemma so I'm dying to add becky to the collection, she really is gorgeous, her owner was on a lesson with her the first time I went there, I had Millie at the time and they looked kinda similar apart from height and I was drooling :D she is gorgeous, a horse with a real chunky neck YEAYYYY!

She looks lovely,:)
I hope she comes sound again soon.
Its no fun riding a dead to the leg RS horse is it :( we had one like that at my old RS, she would only go if you used the crop on her quite hard which I hated :( she was fine out on hacks though, she loved to canter which she would never do in the school.

Its awful isn't it when they just won't move, I feel so mean nagging all the time, sounds like we were riding the same horse curlycal LOL don't know about hacks though they don't do em where I ride I don't think.

This other girl has a lovely walk even with stiff legs (as you can probably just about see) so I think she's goin to be great to ride once she is sound again, I'll never go anywhere with riding I just really enjoy it but I was beginning to dread being made to look like a complete banana on the other mare who would do nothing at all I asked, I can ride I've ridden since I was 8 (30 now) with a total of about 8 years off in between (only ever one lesson a week in a riding school never done a lot of riding) but I always feel like a complete beginner when I ride the other lady

So excited about next week hope she is ok by then :D

LOL its nice to be so excited again, tho the lesson only went on for 5 minutes and she wasn't working right (obviously poor birl was in pain) I really felt like we connected, she is so sweet, I'm in love :D
Not so sure about the nut job thing tho LOL though sayin that I used to ride a big fella who loved gymnastics, hand stands being the speciality, followed swiftly by warp speed. For some reason, me and him clicked, he was an amazing animal, could do anything at all, I trusted him an he worked well for me.
