She looks like she's a wild bay roan. Wild bays have reduced pigment on the legs and often have a sort of salt & pepper mane and tail. If she does have black pigment (have to say on my screen it looks like red) she's bay based; if the pigment in mane, tail and legs is in fact dark brown she'd probably be liver chestnut roan.

You have a 50% chance of a roan foal, and 50% chance of overo pattern.

Looking at the pic in daylight and on my good screen I'd have to say chestnut roan. The tail has nowhere near enough black to be bay.

It's fairly common in Weshies to have odd mane and tail colours. Nobody's entirely certain of the genes that control that particularly. This is one of our youngsters - the bottom half of her tail is white, the top half a strange greyish with light and dark hairs in it.

This one is also chestnut - yet this shot looks like it could be bay. Same pony as previous pic.

Same pony again - you can see how dark her coat goes and look at that white in her tail now!

Different pony now - but her mane looks black, and she's chestnut.

And again, doing an impression of a bay...

Gives you an idea of teh variation in mane and tail pigmentation in chestnuts!

It won't be black - not true black pigment. But some red horses (chestnuts) have an awful lot of pigment in the hair shaft, which can (and do) look black to the naked eye.
