after a few recent threads I'm amazed at how many of us are down here.
has there ever been a meet?
maybe it's something we could look at in the future if anybody else is willing :)
just an idea:p

yea i would..... never done anythinglike it before though, what do we do>>> do we bring our horses or just ourselves:)

wel, we could do something horsey like go for a hack, or we could go for a meal or do someting else social, or we could combine the too:p
not all of us have horses (i don't anyway) so i suppose just ourselves unless we went to a hacking centre where you can "bring your own" :)

we'd be up for it - but I'd be horseless as I can't in all honesty see me arriving on an 11.2hh pony! I'd squash him
I could bring him along to say HI tho as he is just adorable :D

I'd like a meet up :D I'm on here at uni so I've no idea about any good hacking centres though.

Just to say, I'm still wanting to do this! But I don't really know Wales, so I guess all of us should have a look round for some good trekking type places. I could do with a fun day out right now

in light of recent threads (check out security in new ideas, and wallys thread) i think, when we know who wants to do it, we should arrange it all by PM.
i feel this would be safer :)
so if anyones remotely interested then say one this thread and then we can start a PM system

I'm in South Wales but would love to meet and can recommend Sycamores Rance in Narbeth very highly indeed if you are looking for a place to ride and meet.

There is also a get together being talked about on the IH site. Maybe we should merge and do one big meet?

Narberth is too far for us. My brother lives near there and with the box it would take us nearly 2 hours to get there
I'd say Narberth was West Wales as a side note????
Not saying it shouldn't be there btw! Just saying we can't do Narberth as its just too far (nice lady there made our daughters stirrup leathers and altered our bridle so I am not anti Narberth :p)
Just Cardiff to Narberth is too far, sorry

Ooh! I'd love to! I've only lived here for three weeks so I haven't really met anyone yet! And it gets a bit lonely! But I don't think I can do Narbeth either - I'm closer to Cardiff.

i would say cardiff would be a good bet as it's pretty central.
trekking centres i know of are
pontacanna
SWEC
caerphilly (i think!)
cimla
ogmore (not heard very good things though)
and leige manor and talygarn, though not sure if they do trekking
think thats all :p
Snowyboy
7th Jan 2008, 10:08 PM
don't think talygarn would allow you to just go out on a hack and they have a 12 stone weight limit
I am guessing Pontcanna wouldn't allow you just to hack out either?
I sound like a flippin doom and gloom merchant tonight don't I!
Anyone know about Rockwood? I know their weight limit is bigger than 12 stone and they are by the taff trail/moutain
dunno about the others

don't be silly :p:)
yeh i think rockwood is pretty good, where abouts is it?
preferably on a good bus route as probabaly not everyone has a car
Snowyboy
7th Jan 2008, 10:30 PM
not sure its on a good bus route! But its not far from places that are so its pssible we could meet somewhere close and just give a few lifts up to the place?????
Meet at a pub, and then drive up maybe? Not suggesting the drivers drink btw

hey
I want to do this now, would be really good,
I think rockwood would be quite good, my friends have ridden there and also kept there horses there and they liked it, i don't mind giving lifts to some people if need be, i live in cardiff so Narberth would be a bit to far.
loz an pinxx
ps i wouldn't be able to ride pin though

There are 2 of us in south wales, me and Piebaled_Prince, although both our horses are on box rest :-(
were you planning on meeting somewhere with your own horses or going out on a for a ride at a trekking centre with their horses? we have been to Llanthony Priory, Abergavenny which was FAB! it takes about an hour to drive there from cardiff but well worth it!
we might not be able to come but thought i would recommend somewhere!
thanks

i would love to do it on my own horse, but sadly im lacking in that.
so you could have a meet where you just bring your own horses, but some people may have to be left out of that:o

hey
i wouldn't be able to bring pin as i have no transport and she is not in ridden work at the mo anyway so would prob be best to go to a trekking centre if everyone wants to ride, or just meet up at a pub for lunch or something similar?
