Is it more likely that once a horse has had choke he will have it again?

Ta! :)

I had one that had it once and not again.
I also have a youngster that has had it mildly several
times due to rushing her food.
Sorry I could not be more help.

We have a couple of horses that need constant monitoring. Both have been in vet hospital, scoped etc but nothing found but both choke regularly, one even when grazing, the other while travelling to shows etc even without feed, or for variety the latter one also ties up.

Vets think their is a 'blip' in the brain that makes certain horses unable to swallow from time to time

I've got two that choke occasionally. Both appear to be cases of attempting to swallow entire contents of bucket in under 3 seconds being a really bad idea . They generally sort themselves out pretty quick. Only had one vet visit from it and that was when fatso escaped, scoffed some dry sugarbeet and choked on it.

Hmm! thanks guys.

Horse on my yard had it pretty bad just before christmas - ended up having tubes down and things, now whilst owners are away some other people are still putting apples and things in his feed and feeding him titbits over the door, despite being asked not to by owners and person who is looking after the horse while they're away

seems pretty stupid to me either way!
