Very mixed weekend.
Peri didn't do as well as expected but she seems to have put something out in her back/hindquarters, definitely sore when I prodded her last night. She was fine on Friday but very tense to the left on Saturday. She did roll in the stable (which is smaller than hers) so she may have done something then. She was placed in all her classes but disappointing marks. Fourth in the Medium freestyle qualfier, but only 64%. Fourth in all three Advanced Medium qualifiers and ninth in the championship class (out of 16). Fifth in the Medium championship (damn - only top three qualify for the finals).Left a message on the chiropracter's ansaphone this morning so hopefully get her sorted this week.
Tavia (the baby) was a little star. Saturday - Second in the open section of the Novice freestyle qualifier and third overall with 66%. Third in her section of the Elementary freestyle and fourth overall, fourth in the Elementary 54 qualfier, both classes around 61%. Sunday - 8th in the Novice championship, only 60% but it was actually her last class and she was getting tired. 6th in the Elementary championship with 62.59% in a really difficult test (E47) - one of the hardest she has done so far and her highest mark for elementary ever. The horse that was 5th only beat her by one mark and it has been to the regionals at this level before and events at Open Intermediate and Advanced level, so she is really improving in leaps and bounds. I had a good laugh in the elementary prize-giving - mounted presentation and the rosettes were put on her bridle and her mane. She then tried to run sideways away from the one on her bridle during the lap of honour - definitely not like a well- schooled dressage horse who had ignored banners, marquees, flower-pots and loudspeakers all weekend!
