Chev's right - 13.2 no upper limit. Some lines eg Maesmynach (sorry about spelling) tend to be big.

as said above, there shouldn't be an upper height limit, but my girl is just over 15.2hh, and in two showing classes now, Ive been told she is too big!!

often, the bigger Ds lose the pony characteristics and so are not the best example of the breed. i've seen the whacking great big ones who you wouldn't guess at all were native if thy weren't in an M&M class.

Yeah, it also depends on the judge on the day - yes, Ive been told she's two big by two judges, but before this, she has won an M&M class!! Depends what judge likes what horse I suppose.
I was under the impression that D's do not come in piebald/skewbald/coloured, yet a piebald cob won one of the classes (M&M) where I was told my mare was too big!

they come in 'sabino' - which is the gene responsible for the long stockings and white faces, and can give belly splashes which can extend a fair way up the body. a very loudly marked sabino can appear piebald.

Sabino, yep Ive seen long stockings etc, but this horse just looked like a standard coloured cob - perhaps he was sabino though? not that it matters much now lol!!

There is no tobiano gene in Welshies (the gene that makes what we call piebald - seen in coloured cobs, for instance). The one in your show must either have been part-bred, or as Mehitabel says, a loud sabino.
