how do you dry a t/o rug overnight? (if you don't have a proper rug rack) I know they're waterproof but they still seem soaked on the outside (and stinky :p) after they've been rained on. In preparation for potential ownership I'm just trying to find out every niggly thing possible so i'm a bit less thrown in at the deep end! I just have images of going to turn out in the morning and finding a freezing, damp rug! Anyone have any ingenious ideas that don't involve a hairdryer :p?

If it's only the outside that is wet I leave it on the horse. I find that's the best way to dry them out!

we keep all wet turnout rugs on the ponies over night, they dry quicker that why and ponies stay warm!

Ideally best thing to have is 2 rugs to alternate in wet weather, failing that Ditto the others..Best place is on the horse ( mobile Radiator!!) :p

I agree.

I have a spare and then take the other one to my local tack shop to be cleaned, reproofed and repaired and they have a fab drying room. I leave my spare rug there and then collect it to swap with the one on the horse when that one needs doing. No need to store rugs then. My local place stpulates that rugs must be paid for and collected within a year so it's a bargain given that storage is included in the price :D

Fix a rope with a piece of piping over it in your stable. Great way to hang rugs if your horse doesnt pull them off and trash them in poo.

I have a medium weight on my horse and then throw a lightweight over the top. only the top rug gets wet.
I have two rugs to change between but i find if the weather is really bad then they both end up wet.
Good idea leaving the rugs on over night it does dry them out, i personally like to see Prince all wrapped up in his dry warm stable rugs.
